Prior to training as a therapist I have spent most of my life in education supporting young people who face challenges in their lives. I have worked with young people in care who have been excluded from education and also in schools supporting young people with learning needs and challenging behaviour.
I understand that everyone is unique, everyone deserves the right to be seen and heard with a helping hand to overcome obstacles and be the best version of themselves.
I came to counselling myself after significant challenges in my life meant that I was struggling and this is when I experienced the value of having a safe space just for me, to talk through what was happening and move forward in life.
As well as working in private practice I volunteer for a local mental health charity that provides valuable mental health support in the community.
About me and my approach
I am qualified in therapeutic counselling with the humanistic approach of person centred therapy at its core.
This is a non-directive talking therapy that encourages
self-exploration which is led by you the client.
I am not here to give you advice or tell you what I think you should do. My role is to listen to you, and support you by offering a warm, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship in which you can explore what's going on for you. By owning and naming difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviour we can explore together where they originated, how they impact your life and work together to find a way to use this new understanding to take back control of your life in a positive way.
Together we can explore the obstacles that are holding you back from being the person you want to be, improve your self-esteem and self-worth and have more positive , comfortable relationships with others but importantly yourself.
Although Person Centred Therapy is at the heart of what I do, I take an integrative approach when working with clients drawing on other psychological interventions that I have trained in which allows me to be more flexible tailoring the therapy to your needs and goals.

this very special kind is one of the most potent forces
